CUSTOM DESIGNED JEWELRY

In order to create spectacular and dazzling pieces of jewelry, artists often custom design rings, earrings, bracelets and necklaces.  When a piece of jewelry is custom designed, the craftsman will break the mold so the piece becomes a truly one-of-a-kind wearable art.

CUSTOM JEWELRY FROM YOUR VISION

Custom designed jewelry is created from a blend of a customer’s vision and the craftsman’s skill and creativity.  Ultimately it will reflect and enhance the wearer’s unique sense of style--whether it is made with precious gems or hand-made crystals and set in 14k gold or elegant platinum.

Carefully handcrafted, custom jewelry is often owned by someone looking for something out of the ordinary that shows off his or her special personality.

CUSTOM JEWELRY - HEIRLOOM JEWELRY

Custom crafted jewelry is created for many reasons and for varied budgets. You can find affordable custom designed jewelry that is assembled using existing designs and yet is still unique.  At the other end of the price spectrum, many custom designed jewelry pieces become high-end classic collectors’ items sold internationally at auction houses and estate sales.  With careful planning and execution, a custom designed piece can be part of anyone’s future.

Who should consider custom designed jewelry?  Someone who wants to start a family tradition with heirloom-quality jewelry might want to consider having a piece created that reflects the family history and can be passed down through generations; or those with discriminating taste who love to make dramatic statements with their jewelry; and, of course, custom designed jewelry is for the person who needs just the right piece to express how they feel about another person or to commemorate a special occasion such as a birthday, anniversary or engagement.

According to Judith Anderson of Distinctive By Design, there are three important guidelines to follow when you are designing a custom jewel:

  1. Allow yourself and your jeweler enough time to create a jewel that will be truly special and have lasting beauty.  A custom jewel whose design is rushed or compromised will often look awkward and incomplete.  For instance, if you plan to create a special jewel for the Christmas holiday season, you should begin the design process in early November.
  2. Cast a wide net when searching for design ideas.  Possible sources of inspiration include antique and ancient jewels, jewels from other cultures and contemporary jewelry designs.  Clip magazine adds and catalog listings of design ideas you may want to incorporate in your jewel.
  3. Work with a designer who will help you enhance and interpret your ideas.  The design should be a statement of your personal tastes and lifestyle.  Be wary of a “designer” who knows “exactly what you nee” or works from a catalog of overdone commercial designs.

Having a piece of jewelry custom designed is a luxurious—but not necessarily extravagant—way to fulfill your passion and imagination for personal expression.

Custom jewelry is most frequently made of gold but Benoit Designs also works in platinum or silver to achieve the custom look you want..
